Une Enfant Du Siècle: first video speculation fun

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Ok, so we have had the release date announced as well as a pre-order, nothing else worth mentioning has happened yet (barring a few new photos), which means we have entered into another faze of waiting. And as we know, along with waiting comes speculation.

So I was speculating what the first music video that is to accompany UEDS might actually look like.

Might it be done in an Andy Warhol style (thinking around the Edie Sedgewick connection here)? Or might it look very different, with a House of Kids art direction and a sprinkle of Institubes thrown in.

What might the Institubes “gang” (as Alizee Nation calls them) have to do with video direction, you may ask?

Well, recently we got word of an exhibition of a new short movie directed by Jean-Baptiste de Laubie, none other than Para One – operational from the Institubes stable and listed as a producer for Une Enfant Du Siècle.

The movie is called “It Was On Earth That I Knew Joy“, and the trailer paints the picture of a dark and broody apocalyptic theme, masterfully pulled off on what seems like the slimmest of budgets.

Might he be involved? Who knows, we would have to see. Is it far-fetched? You tell me.

Let me lay down some other little titbits to scintillate you even further, have a look at the movie poster, look familiar?

Looks familiar doesn’t it, but I am not going to speculate on who the artists are. heh.

What we do know is that the Institubes close-knit group of friends/rascals like to help each other out.

I mean for one thing, we already know that they have a club jacket!

is it the same jacket that makes an appearance in the movie trailer?

Just having some fun, Alizée and Para One! If you want to confirm or deny: my email address is alizeesouthafrica@gmail.com :)
