“Limelight” picked up on Popjustice.com as song of the day

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Alizée’s officially leaked song, “Limelight” was picked up on popjustice.com today as their “Song of the day”. This is exceptional for a number of reasons, one popjustice caters for a largely english audience being based in London, is a pretty popular site and will put Alizée right into the minds of the UK pop fans.

The following quote from the post:

“Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. (This song is amazing.)”

Will we see “Une Enfant Du Siècle” make some waves in the UK? I certainly hope so, success in that market would mean the album filtering down officially to South Africa pretty quickly. Exciting days.

Limelight lyrics

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

The lyrics as I hear them, it’s a little different from others I have seen:

Dream always and always

I don’t know where I’m going, looking for the limelight, Bright

I can’t recall where I’ve been in this long, long flight, Light

Find a way and all way                    (note: could be always?)

I don’t know if I should, burning waves of estacy, We

Stairs, Lights, Music, Sweat

Scares, Fright, Panic, Threat

I am not going to launch into an analysis of the lyrics, suffice to say that concept albums such as these carry an important underlining message that the artists want’s to express.

I will leave you with this analysis by Deepwaters on Alizée America.

Who is Pascal Teixeira?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

So just as interesting as anything else we have seen today is the small mention by Alizée on the description for the “Alizée En Studio” video:

“Videos par Pascal Teixeira.”

Who is Pascal Teixeira?

A quick scan of the web reveals bits and bobs but the most interesting is an interview with Pascal, himself (sounds like a male name?), around his involvement with the web strategy of smash hit group Phoenix to be found here: http://www.magicrpm.com/artistes/phoenix/a-lire/interviews/interview-pascal-teixeira-04-06

I will save you the google translation but will say this, Pascal is heavily involved with the web marketing strategy for Phoenix and now seems to be the man behind this new social media blitz by Alizée.

Color me excited!

Kudos to team Alizée I think you have a stellar team there, we fans are ready to help, just ask :)

Does “Limelight” have its roots deep in retro french electronic music?

You would not be far off when you listen to “Limelight” and appreciate the electronic sound of the analog synths, sequencers and drum machines and think, gee .. this sounds retro?

Well I will leave you with this song by Space – a french electronic act from the 1970’s – and you can make up your own mind:
